Nastia Liukin helped the United States women's gymnastics team make up for the disappointment of finishing second to China in the team competition by winning gold Friday in the all- around event at the National Indoor Stadium in Beijing, dpa reported.
The world champion secured the win with a total of 63.325 points for the four disciplines of vault, uneven bars, high beam and floor exercise, with compatriot Shawn Johnson taking silver with 62.725 points.
China's Yang Yilin had to be satisfied with bronze after scoring a total of 62.650 points.
