Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 Dec / Trend corr. N.Abdullayeva/ The Azerbaijani Khazar-Lankaran football club will perform championship of the country successfully, Igor Ponomarev, a new chief coach of the club, told Trend at a news conference on 5 Dec.
"I will seek to bring Khazar-Lankaran to international arena," Ponomarev said.
At present Khazar-Lankaran is one of powerful clubs of Azerbaijan, which has a lot of fans, Ponomarev said.
Araz Nasirov, the Vice-President of Khazar-Lankaran, and Ponomarev, new chief coach of the team, have signed on-year contract at the news conference.
Ponomarev left Sweden for Baku on 3 Dec. Earlier, he was the chief coach of the Azerbaijani Garabag and Russian Mashuka club. Ponomarev led the Azerbaijani National football team some time.
Ponomarev, one of famous Azerbaijani footballers, was, the Olympic Champion and winner of the Junior World Championship, as well as champion of Sweden.
