Azerbaijan, Baku, April 29 / Trend , J. Babayeva/ Discussions have been launched on continuing Turkey's TRT-1 television channel's broadcast on Azerbaijan's national frequencies.

"The discussions are being held as contract on Turkey's TRT-1 television channel's broadcast in Azerbaijan has terminated. The most optimal decision will be adopted and we will reach common ground," National Television and Radio Council chairman Nushiravan Maharramli told Trend .

Turkey's TRT-1 television channel launched broadcast on Azerbaijan's national frequencies upon the decision of the State Radio Frequencies Commission dated December 8, 1995. Later a document was adopted to extend broadcast of TRT-1 on Azerbaijan's national frequencies. The contract on TRT-1's broadcast on Azerbaijan's national frequency expired in January 2009.

TRT-1 broadcasts on Azerbaijan's national frequency while Azerbaijani AzTV broadcasts via satellite in Turkey. Azerbaijan banned broadcast of foreign televisions and radio stations on Azerbaijan's frequencies in January 2009.

Maharramli said special clause of the contract with TRT-1 stipulates that if sides do not have any disagreements about the broadcast, the term of the contract is extended automatically.
