UNESCO's Goodwill Ambassadors' tasks will be considered today at a meeting in Paris, ITAR-TASS reports.

UNESCO Director-General for education, science and culture affairs Irina Bokova will address at the event.

According to the the Organization's Headquarters, the Goodwill Ambassadors' group at present includes about 40 representatives from various fields of knowledge, creativity and social life. It includes the Heydar Aliyev Foundation President Mehriban Aliyeva, French astronaut Patrick Baudry, President of the World Association of Russian Press, Director General of ITAR-TASS Vitaly Ignatenko, President of Asia Foundation, Indian writer Madanjeet Singh, Nobel Peace Prize winner Nelson Mandela and other prominent public figures, who will spread the ideas of the organization in the world.

It is expected that one of the topics of views exchanges in Paris will be the implementation of the program of the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures, declared by UNESCO. Its implementation was a response to the intrusion of the global crisis into the social and intellectual sphere, increase in conflicts inside societies. Calendar of the International Year includes several dozens major multilateral actions in all areas of responsibility of the world organization, which, along with education, science and culture includes also information and communication. This program is initiated by Paris Headquarters, together with the member countries.

Goodwill Ambassadors' group will specify activity on the eve of UNESCO's anniversary: universal organization created shortly after the World War II will celebrate its 65th anniversary in 2010. At present, given the associated members, it brings together 200 countries.
