Azerbaijan will host high-level international equestrian sport competitions in 2011, Azerbaijani Equestrian Sport Federation (AESF) General Secretary Bahruz Nabiyev said at a press conference Friday.

"We have already hosted several two-star international competitions," he said. "Now we are planning to hold three-, four- and five-star events."

The AESF will hold a high-level competition in 2011, he added.

Nabiyev also spoke about the competitions held this year.

"Azerbaijan has sheld eight equestrian sport events in 2010," he said. "One was an international and the other were domestic competitions," he said.

The AESF has also formed an equestrian sports national team.

"Our main goal is to compete well in the 2012 Olympic Games in London," Nabiyev said. "The team's members are Jamal Rahimov, Francesco Franco and Patrin McKenzie."

He added that the AESF promotes the local Karabakh and Shahbazski horse breeds.

The AESF was registered at the Justice Ministry in 1996. It adopted a new statute in 1999.
