Minister: Using Azerbaijani historical names as advertising should be controlled

Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev considers it important to monitor the use of historical names as advertising. These issues are being discussed at a conference in Baku this week.
It is necessary to control the process of assigning the name "Seven Beauties" or a writer's name to any beverage, he said.
He stressed that a new state program is being prepared in Azerbaijan to develop and modernize advertising in Azerbaijan. He added that earlier, the advertisement, connected with Azerbaijan, has not been conducted in such a wide scale.
He added that the number of tourists coming into the country was increased since Azerbaijan's tourism potential has been advertised on the world famous TV channels.
Garayev said that strengthening of advertisement related to Azerbaijan will increase the number of tourists coming into the country.
"Azerbaijan has taken part in 25-30 international tourism fairs this year," the minister. "The purpose of participation in these exhibitions is to advertise Azerbaijan."
Garayev said promotional activity in Azerbaijan is carried out in accordance with international advertising rules.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture Nizami Jafarov said that such a conference devoted to advertising is held in Azerbaijan for the first time. He stressed that advertising itself needs advertising.
The conference will close on Friday.
Additionally, Azerbaijani scholars and experts on advertising, well-known scholars and experts from Turkey, Great Britain, Sweden, Spain, UAE, Iran, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, having rich experience in the field of advertising, are attending the event.
