The Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) have signed a cooperation agreement today.
The agreement reflects the priorities of cooperation between the two organizations. In particular, the opportunities of cooperation in reducing the risks of natural disasters, emergency situations and assisting people to return to normal life after eliminating their
consequences. The evaluation will be conducted to support the programs and Azerbaijan's strategies on the issues of mutual interest.
The agreement was signed by the president of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society Novruz Aslanov and acting head of the Azerbaijani representative office of the International Organization for Migration Serhan Aktoprak.
Before signing the agreement, Aktoprak said there are about 1 million migrants in the world, of whom 214 million are international migrants, 740 million, including internally displaced persons, are internal migrants. Joint efforts of states and international organizations are very important to be successful in the management of migration
processes.
