Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 15 / Trend, S. Agayeva /

Azerbaijan is considering the latest statement of the EU representative office under the OSCE concerning the detained participants of unrest in Ismayilli region as pressure on the investigation, spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elman Abdullayev said at a briefing today.

He said that the investigation must be independent, and no one has the right to interfere with its work.

"We are considering the EU statement as pressure and we believe that it is wrong," Abdullayev said.

The investigative agencies themselves determined what charges should be brought against specific individuals, he said.

"This statement surprises Azerbaijan," he said.

In his statement, the EU representative office under the OSCE called on Azerbaijan to reconsider decisions towards Ilgar Mammadov and Tofig Yagublu detained for taking part in a mass conflict in Ismayilli region.
