The Azerbaijani Ecological and Natural Resource Minister addressed citizens on concerns surrounding the beginning of summer.
People should understand that the summer season is the hottest and driest season, this is why when dealing with fire, they should be very attentive, Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Huseyngulu Baghirov told journalists on Monday.
"Each person is well aware of which measures of safety should be taken. People must simply comply with these measures," he said.
Bagirov underscored that even a cigarette butt thrown from the window of a car can lead to serious consequences.
He said that the government is taking serious measures. As a result, there are very few forest fires in Azerbaijan compared to other countries.
"In many countries, local communities act as forest inspectors, this is why they live in these territories for a long time. Unfortunately, we do not have such a practice," the minister said.
