Baku, Azerbaijan, June 18
Trend:
The main cup of Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe embodies the elements characteristic of Azerbaijan, Nigar Arpadarai, head of Marketing and Communications at Baku City Circuit, told Trend June 18.
“The cup is very interesting. Azerbaijan is known as a Land of Fire, therefore, the cup reflects the fire and carpet elements,” she said.
Arpadarai noted that the cup is made of silver.
“In total, four cups will be presented after the race. The cups will be presented to the drivers coming in the first, second and third places, as well as to the constructor of the winner team,” she added.
The cups are similar by appearance and differ only in size, said Arpadarai, adding that the main cup is bigger than the others.
She added that the height of the cups for the driver coming in the first place and for the constructor is 550 millimeters, while the cups for the divers coming in the second and third places have a height of 450 millimeters and 400 millimeters, respectively.
The cups will be presented June 19 after the race wraps up, said Arpadarai.
Azerbaijan is hosting the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe for the first time. The event started on June 17 and will end on June 19. The Baku circuit, which is slightly over six kilometers, will have the racers to go 51 laps. Overall, 11 teams, two drivers in each, will compete in the race.
