We hope to win the "gold" of World Championships tomorrow - Azerbaijani silver medalists

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Mar. 12

By Jani Babayeva - Trend:

We hope to win gold in the next World Cup final, silver medalists of the 28th World Acrobatic Gymnastics Championship in Baku, Azerbaijani athletes Agasif Rahimov and Raziya Seyidli told Trend on Saturday.

"Tomorrow we will have another final, we will perform a balance exercise, we hope that we will win the "gold". We think we have good chances, considering that we took first place in the qualification. Let's try to repeat this result in the final," they said.

Speaking about today's performance, the athletes stressed that they were satisfied.

"Of course, we wanted to show the result even better, but, unfortunately, we made minor mistakes. If not for these shortcomings, the result would have been much better. Mistakes are small, but, of course, they did not escape the arbitrators' sight. At the World Championships, all opponents are strong - there are no weak athletes. This is not the first time we meet with them at competitions. We know each other well, we know the potential and abilities of each," they said.

It should be noted that at the moment, the Azerbaijani national team has three medals in the World Championship - silver, won by Agasif Rahimov and Razia Seidli, and two bronze medals, which were brought by Daniel Abbasov and Murad Rafiyev, who play as part of the men's pair.

The 28th FIG Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships is being held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku from March 10 through March 13.

Some 170 gymnasts from 17 countries are participating in the championship, which is being held in Baku for the first time.

The women's, mixed and men's pairs, women's and men's groups are demonstrating the balance, tempo and combined exercises at the competitions.
