BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 27. A substantial quantity of ammunition has been discovered in Khankendi, Shusha, and Khojaly in Azerbaijan, the Interior Ministry's press service told Trend.
From August 17 through 24, the police recovered and seized a range of weapons and ammunition in Khankendi, including 26 automatic rifles, four pistols, seven rifles, 44 grenades, 19 fuses, two sights, two night vision devices, two shells, one TNT checker, three bayonet knives, 65 magazines, and 2,275 cartridges of various calibers.
In Shusha, the authorities found and confiscated one pistol, one shell, three grenades, two fuses, four magazines, and 125 rounds of ammunition of different calibers. In the Khojaly district, they seized two automatic rifles, four magazines, and 174 rounds of various caliber ammunition.
Following the liberation of its lands, Azerbaijan began operations in November 2020 to sweep its lands clean of mines, booby traps, and other weaponry that the illegal Armenian forces had left behind.
Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan are diligently carrying out their duties to expedite the Great Return process and ensure security following the Second Karabakh War and anti-terrorist measures.
The ongoing task of detecting and neutralizing explosive remnants of war and other hazards is being conducted without interruption. Clearing the region of ammunition and explosives is a key responsibility of the Interior Ministry officers involved in this operation.
