BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 10. Azerbaijan has increased education spending per student by an average of 25 percent, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Idris Isayev said in a statement to local media, Trend reports.
"Spending on undergraduate education has risen by 22 percent, while master's level costs have increased by 26 percent. Doctoral program expenses have surged by 60 percent," Isayev told reporters.
"The cost of undergraduate and master's education is approximately 3,000 manat ($1,764), while doctoral studies exceed 4,500 manat ($2,647)," he added.
Isayev drove home the point that this increase in spending will pay off in spades for educational institutions in the years to come.
Right now, Azerbaijan is home to a whopping 73,000 students, with a lion's share of them getting their education on the government's dime. This just goes to show that universities are getting a nice boost in funding.
