On 24 November, the Heads of several Media companies functioning in Azerbaijan have met with the U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Anne E. Derse, the Editor-in-Chief of Zerklo newspaper, Elchin Shkhlinski, informed Trend.
The participants of the meeting informed the Ambassador of the press situation in Azerbaijan. The Ambassador stressed that the priorities of the USA as human rights, democracy and free press. It was mentioned during the meeting that the Editor-in-Chief of Azadlig newspaper is continuing the hunger-strike, Shkhlinski said.
In addition, the U.S. Ambassador stressed that America positively assess the co-operation with Azerbaijan. The U.S. support of the construction of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline is an example for this, she said.
The meeting was attended by the Editor-in-Chief of Zerklo Newspaper Elchin Shkhlinski, Editor-in-Chief of Ekho Newspaper Rauf Talshiniski, Director of Turan News Agency Mehman Aliyev, Editor-in-Chief of Gun Sahar Newspaper Arif Aliyev, Editor-in-Chief of Baki Khabari Newspaper Aydin Guliyev and Director General of Azadlig newspaper Azer Ahmadov.
