Azerbaijanis to Hold Protest Demonstration in front of UN Residency in New-York

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr S. Ilhamgizi / The State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis Residing Abroad reported on 26 April that the Turkish Associations Federation in the United States (TAFUS) and the Azerbaijan Society of the United States would hold a protest demonstration in New York with respect to the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia.

The demonstration will take place in front of the United National Organization's residency within 12:00p.m..- 1:00p.m. 8 May. Both organizations will demand for implementation of 4 petitions (822, 853, 874, and 884) adopted by the UN Security Council and 1 petition (A/RES/48/114) adopted by the UN General Assembly.

The representatives of the Diaspora will urge Armenia, a UN member, to respect the decisions of the international organization and will express discontent with the fires caused by Armenia in the occupied territories. The demonstrators will call on the UN Secretary General to take a flat stand on the Armenia's illegal actions.

In 1992, Armenian armed forces occupied 20% of Azerbaijani territory (Nagorno-Karabakh and 7 nearby regions). A ceasefire agreement was signed between the countries in 1994.
