Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Agayeva / The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan completed its in-depth inspection of all tourism facilities in the Country on the eve of the opening of the tourism season. The Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, Abulfaz Garayev, said on 21 June that it should be noted that the level of service does not meet required norms everywhere, but positive improvements have been observed.
According to Garayev, the level of service of tourism facilities has been attentively studied and new proposals and recommendations were made with regards to improving tourism services. In addition, the Ministry offers licensing. "This year large tourism facilities are offering their services," the Minister said. By the beginning of the year, nearly forty-five facilities received licenses. According to the Minister, this year the number of hotels with fifty-five to sixty rooms increased by 20% as compared to the last year.
Large companies involved in the hotel business are showing an interest in Azerbaijan. Presently negotiations are being finalized with large international companies such as Hilton, Mediclub and several Turkish companies.
