Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Zarbaliyeva / The inmate of the Reformatory 1 has discontinued his hunger-strike.
According to the Anti-Torture Committee, Elchin Behbudov, the inmate Gahraman Amirov, who sewed up his mouth and went on a hunger strike for 20 days, ripped up the seams on 19 August and ended his hunger strike. Behbudov said that he had applied to the Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General, Zakir Garalov, regarding Amirov's situation.
Notably, Amirov threatened to commit suicide as a result of being given an unjust prison sentence by the Azerbaijan Court on Serious Crimes and not being acquitted Amirov demanded a fair court investigation.
The inmate states that he underwent torture in the Goychay Region Police Department. According to him, the Judges of the Court on Serious Crimes, Nushaba Aghayeva, and Vakil Shukurov did not hold a fair court investigation. He stated he was unfairly sentenced to 15 years imprisonment.
