Iran puts into operation 15 new power plants

Iran power and energy sector has reached considerable achievements in the industry during current Iranian year (started March 21, 2109), said Minister of Energy

"Iran has commissioned 15 power plants with 3,600 megawatt production capacity during a year, while it has reduced energy consumption by 3,800 megawatt during peak hours and exported 2.3 billion kilowatt energy to neighbor countries," said Reza Ardakanian, Trend reports citing ILNA .

"Despite the hot summer the power distribution was stable since 15 power plants operate in 12 provinces with 3,600 megawatt production capacity. For the first time we were successful in saving 3,800 megawatt during peak hours by implementing 11 consumption management plans," he added.

"There was no interruption in power production in summer, and 150,000 megawatt energy was produced," he noted.

In his words, Iran's water reservoirs have been filled with pure water from treatment of more than 40 wetlands. In last Iranian year (started March 21, 2018) the country has operated 11 dams, alongside six water refineries and 31 waste water treatment refineries.

"The number of waste water treatment refineries has increased from four refineries that were built before revolution to 230 refineries. In last Iranian year, 31 sewage refineries were operated," he added.

"By the end of current Iranian year, around 227 mega projects including power plants , dams, sewage refineries and water refineries and irrigation network will be implemented in countries provinces through $10 million credit. Water and power plans worth $18 billion will be launched or commissioned by March 20, 2020," he said.
