Azerbaijan looks to expand sewerage system countrywide

It is planned to build 680,000 kilometers of sewerage system in Azerbaijan, First Deputy Chairman of Azersu OJSC Teyyub Jabbarov said in an interview with Trend.

According to him, Azersu plans to build an underground tunnel for water pipelines with a length of about 150 kilometers, as well as 680,000 kilometers of the sewerage system.

“We currently use in Baku 49 percent of water resources suitable for consumption. Some 14 percent of the capital's industrial waters were purified,” he said.

In addition, there are plans to install 11 special equipment for water purification in 11 wastewater basins in Baku.

“These 11 pools contain over 1.4 million cubic meters of wastewater. In addition to these installations, means will also be installed to manage and monitor these waters,” said the Azersu first deputy chairman.
