Azerbaijan and Russia intend to launch a railway industrial express project, Alevtina Kirillova, head of the export logistics development project of Russian Railways Logistics JSC, said in an interview with Trend.
Kirillova said that it is planned to begin to transport industrial products between Azerbaijan and Russia.
“The Russian Railways Logistics JSC, together with Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, are working on the issues of railway transportation of industrial products, high-tech products, equipment for the machine-building sector, metal products, products for high-precision mechanisms, as well as the products of woodworking industry,” head of the export logistics development project added.
Kirillova said that not only Agro Express railway will run, but an industrial railway express is also expected to run soon.
The head of the export logistics development project said that this is a very interesting and highly relevant project, which is being implemented by the Russian Railways Logistics JSC, together with the Russian Railways JSC, Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, and their logistics operators.
“We expect that the launch of this project will contribute to reaching the transportation capacity of up to 100,000 tons per year,” the head of the export logistics development project said. “We will not achieve this immediately. First, it is planned to launch a pilot project while regular trains may already run in the future.”
The Russian Railways Logistics JSC and Azerbaijan Railways CJSC together with their logistics operators have already started to implement the Agro Express project.
