BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 12. Over one million manat ($588,235) was transferred to Azerbaijan via the Turkish ‘Turan Teknoloji Anonim Sirketi’ (Turan) payment system from January through May 2023, Managing Director at United Payment Azerbaijan Edgar Abdullayev told Trend.
Money transfers via the above payment system were launched at the end of January 2023 in partnership with United Payment.
Abdullayev said more than 6,000 transactions were implemented from Türkiye to Azerbaijan via the Turan payment system.
In the first quarter of this year, money transfers of individuals to Azerbaijan exceeded $451.5 million, which is 88.1 percent more than in the same period of 2022.
The top five countries from which transfers were made included Türkiye ($32.6 million, an increase of 39.3 percent), the US ($15.8 million, 2.1 times less), the UK ($9.19 million, an increase of 17.9 percent). percent) and the UAE ($7.66 million, an increase of 20.6 percent).
