BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 17. The value of Azerbaijan's pharmaceutical exports amounted to $1.821 million from January through March 2024, Trend reports.
According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, this is 84.81 percent less than in the same period last year.
Whereas, Azerbaijan imported 6,763 tons of pharmaceutical products (a decrease of 21.96 percent) in the amount of $122.5 million (a decrease of 36.21 percent) in the reporting period of 2024. The import of pharmaceutical products amounted to 3.3 percent of Azerbaijan's total imports, and exports amounted to 0.03 percent of total exports.
Meanwhile, Azerbaijan's international trade turnover in January-March 2024 fell by 17.63 percent, or $2 billion, compared to the same period in 2023, from $11.7 billion to $9.6 billion. Exports accounted for $5.9 billion of international trade turnover, which is $1.7 billion, or 22.7 percent less than the same period the previous year.
Exports accounted for 61.72 percent of total foreign trade turnover, compared to 65.77 percent the previous year.
During the reported period, Azerbaijan's imports fell by $318.2 million, or 7.9 percent, from $4 billion to around $3.7 billion. Imports made up 38.28 percent of total foreign trade turnover, up from 34.23 percent the previous year.
As a result, during the reporting period, the balance of foreign trade turnover, while remaining positive, decreased year-on-year by more than $1.4 billion, or 38.77 percent, to $2.2 billion against $3.7 billion in the reporting period of 2023.
