BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 28. The total area of agricultural plots in Azerbaijan is 4,780 ha (55 percent), per capita suitable agricultural land plots amount to 0.47 ha, including areas suitable for sowing - 0.21 ha, the head of the Land Use Control Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan, Firidun Taghiyev, said at the “Role of Water Management Systems in Climate-Resilient Agriculture” COP29 round table, Trend reports.
Taghiyev noted that the country has about 1,485 ha of irrigated land.
“A total of 78 percent of the irrigated land is under crops, nine percent under perennial crops, and 13 percent under other fields (hayfields, pasture, homestead, etc.). 80-90 percent of agricultural products produced across the country, including export-oriented ones, are grown on irrigated lands,” Taghiyev added.
