TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, May 31. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reaffirmed Uzbekistan’s readiness to cooperate with Italian companies on renewable energy initiatives, including the export of green energy to the European Union, during the inaugural Central Asia–Italy summit held in Astana, Kazakhstan, Trend reports, citing the Uzbek president’s office.
He also underscored Uzbekistan’s dedication to enhancing energy efficiency in enterprises, modernizing water infrastructure, and advancing hydrogen technologies.
Bilateral trade and investment between Uzbekistan and Italy have nearly tripled in recent years. Highlighting the strong presence of the Italian business community in Uzbekistan’s innovation sector, the president proposed the creation of a permanent platform for business dialogue — the Central Asia–Italy Business Club — to be established under the auspices of the respective chambers of commerce. These forums, involving a wide range of entrepreneurs, could be held annually in the capitals, fostering new opportunities for trade and investment cooperation.
Building on successful cooperation to date, priority sectors include the deep processing of mineral resources and agricultural raw materials; production of advanced equipment for the electrical, chemical, textile, leather, food, and other processing industries; localization of components and industrial goods; as well as the establishment of design centers featuring leading Italian brands.
In order to optimize the execution of regionally pivotal
initiatives, a specialized industrial zone, overseen by a European
entity, is presently under development in the Tashkent region.
Endorsement for these synergistic initiatives is anticipated to
encompass Italian governmental entities SACE and SIMEST, in
conjunction with collaborative investment vehicles.
In summation, President Mirziyoyev reiterated Uzbekistan’s robust
dedication to enhancing synergistic and multidimensional
collaboration within the parameters of the Central Asia–Italy
alliance.
