In the Lebap region in eastern Turkmenistan, preparations are underway for the commissioning of a gas turbine power plant with an installed capacity of 432 megawatts, which will increase the export of Turkmen electricity abroad, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen media.
The power plant is being built by the Japanese Sumitomo Corporation. The equipment of another Japanese company, Mitsubishi Power Ltd., is being installed at the TPP.
According to Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Charymyrat Purchekov, three gas turbines with a capacity of 144 megawatts each have been installed, auxiliary facilities have been built and are ready for operation.
At present, commissioning works are underway at the main units.
It is planned to open the power plant by the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.
