Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / The Azerbaijan Ministry of Economic Development will announce a tender within a month to select a contractor to construct and manage the garbage processing plant, Askar Alakparov, the head of the Department on Investment Policy at the Ministry, said. The Ministry has hired a foreign consultant for this purpose.
The Finnish Poyri company held a preliminary assessment of proposals of the three companies for the Ministry of Economic Development, the Japanese EBARA, Austrian EVN and French CNIM. The new consultant will develop the full technical specification for the project.
The volume of domestic waste in the Absheron Peninsula and Baku City will be defined after preliminary examinations have been held by the consultant. The project will be financed by the State budget. The Azerbaijan investment companies will not participate in the project.
Construction of the plant will take two to three years. A total of 775,000 tons of domestic waste is collected around Baku per year.
