Azerbaijan Prepares to Join WTO under Status of Developing Country

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / After its entrance to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Azerbaijan intends to reserve its right to provide 10% subsidies to the agriculture sector of the Country, said Azerbaijan's Minister of Economic Development and also Chairman of Commission on Entrance to the WTO, Heydar Babayev, at the 9th meeting.

It will depend on the status of Azerbaijan in entrance to the WTO. "We are interested in joining the WTO under the status of developing country," Babayev said.

The meeting stated that to improve the legislation of the Country, it is expedient to attract experts from the USAID within the project on support to the reforms in trade and investment sphere of Azerbaijan.

In addition, discussions were held on the application of unified form of the customs tariffs for the WTO member-countries.
