New Astana-Baku Flights to be Launched

Kazakhstan, Astana, 31 January / Trend corr. K. Konirova / Company Kazakhstan's Air Astana intends to launch new regular flights Baku-Aktau-Astana and Baku-Atyrau-Astana, the President of the Air Astana Pieter Foster said to Trend in Astana on 31 January.

"We have the interest and we intend to establish business," Foster said. The regular flights are expected to be opened by the end of 2008. To operate the flights the company will utilise Fokker-50 airliners.

Fokker-50 is a turbo-prop airliner with a seating capacity of 50 seats. Air Astana's Fokker-50 airliners implement internal flights in Kazakhstan.

Air Astana is a joint-stock enterprise owned by the Kazakh Government (51%) and BAE Systems (49%).
