(dpa) - The price for crude oil produced by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) climbed to a new record high at the end of the week, OPEC said on Monday.

One barrel (159 litres) of crude from OPEC's twelve-brand reference basket stood at 99.16 dollars on Friday, up 70 cents from the previous day.

OPEC crude prices followed all-time-highs in the United States, with both Nymex WTI and ICE Brent peaking on Thursday, with bullish trends continuing over the weekend with colder temperatures in the United States.

At their March 5 meeting in Vienna, OPEC's 13 energy ministers decided to leave output levels unchanged, a decision widely expected among analysts.
