( dpa ) - Tokyo stocks opened almost flat in mixed trading Tuesday as investors waited for the outcome of the US Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting, scheduled to end Wednesday.
The key Nikkei 225 Stock Average edged down 6.43 points, or 0.05 per cent, to 13,851.04.
The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was up 1.79 points, or 0.13 per cent, at 1,349.72.
On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar was quoted at 107.85-90 yen, up from Monday's 5 pm quote of 107.58-59 yen.
The euro was quoted at 1.5518-23 dollars, down from Monday's 5 pm quote of 1.5533-35 dollars, and at 167.39-44 yen, up from 167.11-15 yen.
