Roughly 90 percent of Azerbaijani state targeted social aid receivers use plastic cards, Azerbaijani Labor and Social Protection Minister Fuzuli Alakbarov said at a meeting on targeted social aid and medical social expertise on Feb. 6.
In the second half of 2008, 47,170 citizens received targeted social aid for the first time and 116,230 for the second time, Alakbarov said.
Average targeted social aid was 22 manat per person and 100.96 manat per family.
Last year, the ministry cancelled targeted aid to 380 citizens for two years and 197 people for one year.
On Feb. 6, the official exchange rate is 0.808 manat to $1.
