In January consumer price index dropped by 1.54 percent in Azerbaijan, the Economic Research Centre Non-Government Organization (NGO) said on Feb. 17.
Monitoring was held in the country's 11 regions. Deflation ratio level was 2.06 percent in Baku and 1.04 percent - in the country's regions in January.
The highest deflation was observed on consumer goods - 2.31 percent, non-food goods - 0.77 percent and services - 0.49 percent.
Consumer price index increased by 10.72 percent compared to January 2008.
In January, price cut was observed on butter - by 10.92 percent, sunflower seed oil - 9.79 percent, corn oil - 6.46 percent, hen -9.77 percent, beef - 6.24 percent, mutton - 6.10 percent, as well as cement - 9.41 percent, electric drill - 5.37 and gold 750 hallmark - 1.17 percent.
The most considerable price cut was observed on hothouse cucumber - by 22.89 percent, quince - 17.38 percent, pomegranates - 14.40 percent, as well as analgin tablet - 18.62 percent. Rent for a tent to hold mourning ceremonies fell by 5.20 percent in the service field.
Inflation ratio level in the country was 20.8 percent in 2008, the State Statistics Committee said.
