GDP will grow in April-May, Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee Chairman Arif Valiyev said.
"We will see GDP growth due to projects currently being implemented by the government," he said.
GDP dropped 2.6 percent last month. The figure is not low compared to other countries, Valiyev said.
GDP recession in Ukraine hit 20 percent in January.
"I think GDP will not fall in February. Instead it will remain at the 2008 level," Valiyev said.
GDP was 1,860 million manat in January.
On Feb. 26, the official exchange rate is 0.8052 manat to $1.
