The volume of transit of Kazakh cargo via the territory of Russia hits 18 million tons in 2008, Vice Transport and Communications Minister Azat Bekturov told Trend in Astana.
"Kazakhstan exported to Russia 51 million tons of cargo in 2008, out of which 18 million tons account for transit," Bekturov said.
"In 208, a positive dynamic in transit of Kazakh cargo via Russia was observed compared to 2007. There is a reduction this year, but insignificant. The situation is better in the railway rather than in aviation," Bekturov added.
