About 131 enterprises were suspended and eliminated in Azerbaijan in January-June 2009, the state statistics committee said.
About 14.5 percent of them is wholesale and retail sale points on automobile and motorbike repair, 13 percent - construction companies and 12.2 percent - information and communicational companies.
In this period, 2,970 new enterprises were established, including 25.6 percent- in different services, 24.8- percent in wholesale and retail , 15.2 percent- construction companies , 5.5-professional, scientific and technological enterprises, 4.4 percent- processing industry and 4.2 percent - agriculture, timber industry and fishery.
As for July 1, 88,875 enterprises conducted their activities in Azerbaijan, including 54.9 percent (48,756) in Baku and the rest - in the country's other regions and cities. Majority (77 percent or 68,410) of enterprises in Azerbaijan is small-seized enterprises.
The Azerbaijani Taxes Ministry registered 281,132 entrepreneurs in the report period.
