GDP growth will amount to 5.2 percent in Azerbaijan

Based on World Bank (WB) forecasts, in 2010, Azerbaijan's GDP growth will hit 5.2 percent, the Bank's report "Global Economic Prospects 2010: Crisis, Finance, and Growth" says.

Based on World Bank (WB) forecasts, in 2010, Azerbaijan's GDP growth will hit 5.2 percent, the Bank's report "Global Economic Prospects 2010: Crisis, Finance, and Growth" says.

According to the report, GDP growth for 2010 is 8.5 percent. In 2010, the country's current balance of payments will reach 27.2 percent from GDP and in 2011 - 26.2 percent fromGDP.

The surplus or deficit reduction is expected due to rising oil prices and increased production in oil exporting countries such as Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, the report says.

The Azerbaijani government forecasts GDP growth at 6.6 percent in 2010 and 4.5 percent in 2011.
