Azerbaijan will hold info-tours to develop regional tourism

The Azerbaijani Travel Agencies Association intends to organize info-tours in the country under the project on active promotion of the capacity of the regional tourism, association head Nahid Bagirov said.
"Based on the developed project, tour agencies and companies together with representatives from the local community will undertake info-tours in the country's various regions for promotion," he added.
Bagirov said such info-tours will give a big push to promote regional tourism potential of Azerbaijan, first domestically and then beyond.
Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev signed an order approving theState Tourism Development Program for 2010-2014 April 6. The program was approved to ensure tourism sector development and the transformation of tourism into a leading sector of the economy.
The program indicated that to achieve these objectives, activities will be mainstreamed in the creation of tourism infrastructure to meet the highest international standards, and stimulate the investment and business climate to attract domestic and foreign investment in tourism.
All the activities envisaged in the program will be funded by state budget funds earmarked for the Culture and Tourism Ministry and other sources in accordance with the law.
