Georgia creates system of statistical data on migration

Georgia creates an electronic system for processing, analysis and forecasting statistics for internal and external migration for the first time.

In this regard, the Civil Registry Agency with the Italian Government's and support of the International Organization for Migration held a meeting June 10. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Interior Ministry, the Foreign Ministry, the Ministry for works with Refugees and Resettlement, the International Organization for Migration and the Office of State Minister for Diaspora Affairs.

The Canadian experts shared with their experience in the sphere of migration with the meeting participants.

At present, Georgia has the technical capabilities to group different statistics that exist in various state institutions, and conduct relevant analysis.

According to Chairman of the Civil Registry Agency Giorgi Vashadze, representatives of all the ministries that work in this direction also participated in creating a system of processing statistical data on internal and external migration.

He said data processing will avoid spread of incompetent information.

"We can fully reflect the number of citizens leaving the country, and trends within the state by using this system ", Vashadze said.

According to the International Organization for Migration Programme Manager Marc Hulst, the purpose of today's meeting is to gather and analyze data related to migration.
