Morocco's minister: Azerbaijan has great potential for tourism development (Interview)

Trend Persian Desk interviewed Morocco's Economy and Finance Ministry's Secretary General Abdelatif Loudyi, who is on visit to Baku.

Trend: How do you assess the prospects of your country's investments in Azerbaijan?

Loudyi: Azerbaijan and Morocco has good prospects for cooperation. Morocco has a great experience in the service sector and industry. Your country has a vast experience in the energy sector. Therefore, we can share experiences. The private sector in Azerbaijan and Morocco are very promising. Azerbaijan can share its experiences in the field of energy, and Morocco could help Azerbaijan develop tourism and services.

The governments should work on this cooperation for the signing of various agreements in the future, which will stimulate the investment flow into our countries, as well as agreements on avoidance of double taxation. The agreement on investment and for the avoidance of double taxation is ready. Signing of the document depends both on the working schedules of ministers, and the question of establishing a joint commission.

Q: Which sectors of the Azerbaijani economy are most attractive to business people of your country?

A: We are interested food industry and tourism in Azerbaijan, as you have tremendous potential in this sector. There are also many other areas for cooperation between the two countries.

Q: How much has the world financial and economic crisis affected the economy of Morocco?

A: Morocco has small problems in microeconomics. The country also observes a small inflation. However, comparison to the previous years, Morocco fixed GDP growth at 5-5.5 percent.
