Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has taken the initiative to develop a new instrument of the OSCE in the field of economic and ecological activities of the organization.
"I propose to develop a new OSCE document in the field of economic and ecological activities of the organization, which could be called 'Maastricht - plus'," Nazarbayev said at the opening of the Astana Economic Forum July 1.
He said the new document should reflect the contemporary realities of a changed world, post-crisis and 'its goal - to become a guide in the medium and long term'.
"I propose to discuss the paper at the OSCE member-states leader's summit, which is scheduled to be held in Astana in late 2010," Nazarbayev said.
