The Azerbaijani tax system has a sound legislative framework for regulating tax relations, Tax Minister Fazil Mammadov told the Izvestia newspaper this week.
The country has also seen both improved administration processes and an enhanced logistical base over the past 10 years.
"Our achievements are a strong basis for a new phase of our tax development strategy," he said. "Azerbaijan is a country with a very dynamic economy, which can do much more."
According to the official, the tax system faces new tasks and challenges.
"We continue to pursue reforms and measures to improve the tax service," Mammadov said. "We must create a simple and easily understandable tax system consistent with the principles of neutrality, social justice and national economic competitiveness."
