Kazakhstan intends to supply from 300,000 to 500,000 tons of grain to Georgia in the current marketing year, Daulet Uvashev, Commercial Affairs Managing Director of the Kazakh National Company Food Contract Corporation told Trend today.

"We plan to supply from 300,000 to 500,000 tons of grain to Georgia in the current marketing year. And this amount is not included in those amounts that are intended for Azerbaijan," Uvashev said.

He said that Kazakh grain is supplied to Georgia by three routes: by rail through Russia, by ferry across the Caspian Sea, and through the port of Aktau on the sea to Baku Port, and from there to Georgia.

"Part of wheat intended for Georgia that will go through Baku Port will be processed at the mill complex in the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan grain terminal and delivered to the Georgian market as flour," he said.

It was previously reported that, in 2010, Kazakhstan expects to harvest 13.5 million tons of wheat. The export potential in the 2010-2011 marketing year is 8 million tons, a million tons of which is intended for Azerbaijan.
