The annual amount of cargo transportation by rail from Russia to Azerbaijan in 2030 will increase to 19 million tons, the Russian Railways First Vice President Vadim Morozov said at a plenary meeting of the business forum "Strategic Partnership 1520: The Caucasus region" dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the Azerbaijani railway.
According to him, an insignificant, but steady growth is observed in the transportation of goods by rail from Russia to Azerbaijan.
"During the first eight months of 2010 the amount of goods transported by rail was 3.5 million tons," Morozov said.
According to the head of the CJSC "Azerbaijani Railways" Arif Asgarov, his structure successfully cooperates with the JSC "Russian Railways".
"In the border zone inspection and cargo transportation procedures have been simplified. Previously it took three hours, now takes about 1.5 hours," Asgarov said.
Baku hosts a business forum "Strategic Partnership1520: The Caucasus region" Oct. 12-13. A key theme of the forum is effective development of transport corridor "North-South".
