Income of the JSC "Georgian Railways" in 2010 amounted to 400 million lari ($1 equals 1.76 lari), which is 100 million lari higher compared to last year, the Georgian Railways director general Irakli Ezugbaya said at the presentation of the report as a results of the year.
The report was presented to the public and the Economy Minister Vera Kobalia. According to Ezugbaya, in 2010 transportation of dry cargo and oil products increased. He noted that compared to last year the flow of passengers also increased.
Together with the Economy Minister he assessed the successful projects of this year and discussed plans for next year. Kobalia and Ezugbaya inspected a section of the railway, construction of which is carried out on the JSC own force.
"We are engaged in investment projects. Main projects of them are Tbilisi bypass railway and high-speed railway," Ezugbaya said.
The Minister was pleased with the work of the "Georgian Railways". According to Kobalia, the bypass railway will create about three thousand new jobs.
