Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 3 /Trend, I.Khalilova/

State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan presented to the Cabinet of Ministers proposals for a differentiated approach to levy road tax on imported cars in the country, SCC Chairman Aydin Aliyev told Trend.
"In some cases, changes to the tax laws will reduce the tariff at the border crossing, to the introduction of a differentiated approach on the timing and so on," said Aliyev.

Currently, the amount of road tax for all cars is $15, and SCC proposes to increase and arrange it, depending on engine size.
"The main purpose is to eliminate the abuse, because today there are a lot of cars in Azerbaijan that have not passed customs clearance, said Aliyev. - We also propose to increase the term of cargo vehicles stay in the territory of Azerbaijan to 30 days."

Road tax will be paid for additional time spent in the country, which amounts to $20 per day for trucks in accordance with applicable tax law. Trucks (up to four axles) pay $40 for two weeks stay in the country (more than four axles - $80), up to one month - $140 ($280), up to three months - $400 ($800), up to one year - $1,400 ($2,800).
