Turkmenistan has set up a state commission to organize how the 2011 grain harvest campaign will proceed. President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov signed a decree approving the composition of the commission.
According to the document, the commission should monitor not only wheat harvesting, but also its transportation without losses to the collection points, warehouses and elevators, as well as further safekeeping of wheat.
Berdimuhammedov instructed the Association of Joint Stock Companies for the Maintenance of Agricultural Equipment "Turkmenobahyzmat" to organize a field-maintenance of combine harvesters.
On the basis of a contract with the Bread Association Turkmengallaonumleri, the Turkmen Road Transport Ministry is tasked to ensure the timely and efficient transportation of harvested wheat fields to the collection points, warehouses and elevators, as well as ensure trouble-free and high-performance of vehicles.
Turkmengallaonumleri is to use vehicles from other ministries and departments as well as private vehicles while transporting wheat.
Turkmen farmers collected about 1.5 million tons of wheat in 2010. The sown area was 860,000 hectares.
Turkmenistan began placing wheat and flour on foreign markets through the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange.
