About 8 Iranian and foreign consortiums united to launch an electric railway from Tehran to Mashhad, Fars News Agency reported quoting Managing Director of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Abdolali Saheb Mohammadi as saying
The process of transforming the Tehran - Mashhad railway route into the electric railway started 2 years ago. But after several months about 8 consortiums bought the venture through the Electronic Tendering System where 59 documents were signed during the process.
"About 8 consortiums bought the documents and some of these consortiums became the partners later," he said.
TAM IranKhodro, Mapna Parsian Group, IRGC's Khatamolanbia camp, Moshanir, Pars Wagon, Sarab, Chinese company, Iran Transfo, SAIPA, Niroofaran, IDOR, IPMI and Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company are among the companies that will gather to establish an electric train from Tehran to Mashhad.
The quality of consortiums will be examined in the next 2 months and the deal will be finalized by the Iranian Central Bank.
The project will increase the train speed, reduce the travel time up to 6 hours and prevent environment pollution and repair costs.
