Depositary base of Azerbaijani banks ups by 5 percent in January-May

Depositary base of Azerbaijani banks grew by 2.6 percent in May 2011 and by 5.1 percent since early 2011, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said.

Depositary base of Azerbaijani banks grew by 2.6 percent in May 2011 and by 5.1 percent since early 2011, the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) said.

Based on the CBA data, as of June 1, total sum of bank deposits and deposits by legal and physical entities hit 5.729.3 billion manat compared to 5.585.4 billion manat as early May and 5.448.8 billion manat as of early 2011. Some 2.623.9 billion manat fell to manat and 3.105.4 billion manat to currency.

The deposits of physical entities decreased by 1.1 percent in May, the deposits of legal entities increased by 8.1 percent. The deposits by individual clients increased by 9.6 percent as of early 2011, while deposits of corporate clients decreased by 0.5 percent.

The deposits of physical entities totaled 3.321.5 billion manat as of early June compared to 3.358.7 billion manat as of May 1 and 3.029.8 billion manat as of Jan.1, 2011.

The deposits of legal entities totaled 2.407.9 billion manat compared to 2.226.7 billion manat in early May and 2.419 billion manat, accordingly.
The official exchange rate is 0.7864 manat to $1 on July 20.
