Iran's inflation rate reaches 16.3 percent

Iran's rate of inflation for the period between June 21 and July 22 reached 16.3 percent, Mehr News Agency reported, quoting the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Mahmoud Bahmani.

"The inflation rate between June 21 and July 22 increased by one percent to 16.3 percent", he said. Bahmani noted that the rate of inflation would continue to drop in the coming months and that the CBI plans to reduce the rate during the next year, with regard to the Iranian calendar (started on March 21, 2012).

The Statistical Center of Iran issued a report on the country's rate of inflation between April 21 and May 20, when it reached 16.7 percent. However, the center has not yet issued its report for the rate of inflation for the period between May 20 and June 21. The statistics for the Central Bank of Iran indicated that the rate of inflation between May 20 and June 21 was 15.4 percent.
