IDS Borjomi International is ready to resume supplies of "Borjomi" mineral water to Russia if an agreement is reached between relevant authorities of Georgia and Russia, the company said.

"The issue of resuming "Borjomi" mineral water supplies is in the competence of IDS Borjomi International head office, which has been negotiating with the Georgian and Russian authorities since 2006. The company has submitted an application to the Russian Federal Service on Customers' Rights Protection and Human Well-being Surveillance (Rospotrebnadzor) more than once to return "Borjomi" mineral water to the Russian market since 2006," the report says.

The company says that "Borjomi" mineral water fully satisfies all the demands of Georgia, Russia and the EU.

"The company has a technological basis and legal grounds to resume the supplies to the Russian Federation, if Georgia and Russia's relevant authorities reach agreement on this issue," the company said.

In spring 2006 after the Georgian-Russian relations worsened, "Rospotrebnadzor" banned the import of the Georgian wines and "Borjomi" mineral water into Russia, calling low quality of products as an official reason for the ban.

Georgian Foreign Ministry considers the Russian side's statement about the possible return of the Georgian "Borjomi" mineral water to the market as "speculation" on the background of the negotiations on Russia's WTO accession.
